404 analytics apps blogs books comments config contributors docs font-icons jekyll mobile news search spotlight update welcome widgets

404

  • Feature - 404 Pages
  • I’m not a fan of the standard error page that appears when the page you navigated to could not be found. So, I made up some more interesting 404 pages. As I get time, I’ll try to add more.

ANALYTICS

  • Feature - Analytics
  • Analytics help you understand who your audience is, what they’re looking for, how they’re finding your site, and what they do during their visit.

APPS

  • Feature - Web Applications

BLOGS

  • Feature - Blogs
  • Every site needs a blog, right? Well, JekyllFaces is built on Jekyll so blogging is baked right in. But it takes some work to format, segment, and display those posts. JekyllFaces adds several templates for displaying groups of posts, like recent posts, featured posts, and post archives.

BOOKS

  • Feature - Books
  • Are you writing the next big novel? Are you writing a technical how-to book? Do you want to collaborate with other writers?

COMMENTS

  • Feature - Comments
  • Just because your site is serving static content doesn’t mean that it can’t be interactive as well. Comments are a great way to engage your visitors.

CONFIG

  • Feature - Configuration
  • One of the aspects of Jekyll that has always bothered me is that when you update any of the site’s settings in the _config.yml, those changes don’t show up until you stop and start the Jekyll server again. For JekyllFaces, I wanted any edits that you make to be immediately reflected in the running server.

CONTRIBUTORS

  • Feature - Contributors
  • Whether you’re going solo, working with a buddy, or are a member of a larger team, you can promote everyone on the contributors’ page.

DOCS

  • Feature - Documentation

JEKYLL

  • Welcome to Jekyll!
  • You’ll find this post in your _posts directory. Go ahead and edit it and re-build the site to see your changes. You can rebuild the site in many different ways, but the most common way is to run jekyll serve, which launches a web server and auto-regenerates your site when a file is updated.

MOBILE

  • Feature - Mobile
  • As more and more people use their phones and tablets to access the web, it’s important that your site be accessible and easy to use on those devices.

NEWS

  • JekyllFaces is Coming Soon!
  • Jekyll is a great blogging platform, but to make it really shine, you need to make some tweaks. We’ve made those tweaks, and we’ve done so in such a way as to avoid using custom plugins, so your site can easily be hosted on GitHub Pages.
